Lower School Dean; 5th Grade Teacher
Mindy Menard loves teaching young children to read and preparing them for their First Communions. She is from the small village of Parks, Louisiana. Mindy graduated from her local high school, Breaux Bridge Senior High. After graduation, she immediately began college at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She first began in an accounting degree program, but after three semesters realized that education was were her talents would be best used. Mindy also had a strong desire to one day be on the same schedule as her own children. Shortly after graduating from college with a degree in Elementary Education, Mindy married her husband, Derrick. They were married by the school’s co-founder, Father Bryce Sibley, at St. Joseph’s Church in Parks.
This church has been the place where Mindy has received the sacraments of Baptism, her First Communion and Confession, Confirmation, and Marriage, so St. Joseph’s has a very special place in her heart. She tries to give back to the parish and God some of what has been offered her by teaching First Communion each year. Derrick and Mindy have four children, the eldest three of whom attend John Paul the Great Academy.
When asked how she likes to spend her free time, she commented that she enjoys being with friends, shopping, and baking. She currently is reading the Diary of Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska again. Mindy loves praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet and is just amazed with Saint Faustine’s story, her vision of Hell, and is so thankful for the gift God has given all of us in Divine Mercy Sunday. When asked what makes John Paul the Great Academy such a special school, Mindy had much to say but the thing she is most thankful for is the community that she and her family gets to be a part of. Having the Blessed Sacrament on campus, being around the children, their families, the faculty, and religious daily is such a powerful blessing that helps her to strive to be a better Catholic and disciple each day.
