Perennial park offering a heated, Olympic-sized indoor pool, athletic fields/courts & a playground.
We are excited to announce the John Paul the Great Academy’s First Cabbage Ball Tournament, which will take place on October 19th, 2024 at Neyland Park. This tournament promises to be an exciting family-friendly event, bringing our Catholic Community together for a weekend of spirited competition and camaraderie.
Team Information: We invite you to build a team and showcase the athletic abilities of you and your friends! Teams can be between 7-10 players with up to 2 alternates. We invite everyone ages 15 years or older to play. Your Team Entry fee is $300 for 10 players and $30 for each additional player. You will be given team jerseys and an official Cabbage Ball to practice. We will host a draft for the bracket on Friday Night, October 18th, (location TBD). All teams are invited to attend!
Tournament Details: The tournament will start at 9 a.m. and end with the last team standing. Cabbage Ball is played with a very large softball and a standard aluminum bat. No gloves and no stealing. Basic baseball knowledge is necessary, but we do have official rules for you to refer to. The tournament will be single elimination bracket-style games that last 45 minutes and play out the inning.
Who's Invited: The idea behind this tournament is good, old-fashioned fun. We have a strong Catholic Community here in Lafayette and this is a chance for everyone to come together and enjoy a Saturday at the ballpark. We are inviting Church parishes, Catholic schools, and non-profit, and unofficial Catholic organizations to participate and build a Cabbage Ball team to compete.
