Teach as Jesus Taught

John Paul the Great Academy is founded on the eternal truths of the Catholic faith, which were revealed by Christ, passed on through His apostles, and sustained through the ages by the intercession of the Holy Spirit.
 
I, therefore, swear an oath of fidelity to the one, holy, Catholic, and apostolic Church.

We believe that every student has been given unique gifts and charisms which are absolutely essential to the building of the Kingdom of God.  

I, therefore, commit myself to help every student discover those unique personal gifts within themselves, and to find fulfillment in offering those gifts for the good of others.
 
We believe that God created each student with a wonderful and powerful mind, a mind made for truth, inquiry, and the joy of discovery. 

I, therefore, commit myself to help each student to cultivate a desire for knowledge and a love of wisdom.
 
We believe that God created each student with an immortal soul, made for eternal happiness with Him in heaven.
 
I, therefore, commit myself to encourage my students to grow in holiness and faith, that they might embrace the call of every person to sainthood.
 
We believe that Jesus, fully present in the Eucharist, is the source and summit of the Christian life.

I, therefore, commit myself, by the way I participate in Mass, to teach my students that Mass is not an inconvenience, but a sacred, powerful, and living mystery.
 
We believe the first mission of a Catholic School is to form young people - mind, body, and soul - as disciples of Jesus Christ.

I, therefore, commit myself never to use my teaching position to undermine the teachings of Christ or His Catholic Church.
 
We believe that every student is a child of God who possesses infinite dignity and value.

I, therefore, commit myself to use language which builds up instead of tearing down, which gives respect to my God, my students, and myself.
I commit myself to discipline my students out of love, not frustration.
I commit myself to teach my students
to pray, by the way they see me pray.
to show respect for others, by the way I show respect for them.
to depend on God, by the way they see me depending on God.
 
And I commit myself above all, to teach my students to become disciples of Christ by the way I seek daily to grow ever closer to Jesus, the master teacher, my master teacher.
